handball

Our U18 national handball team secured the bronze medal at the 22nd Men’s U18 African Championship, held from 15 to 22 September 2026 in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

Morocco finished third in the continental competition following an 18–17 victory over Guinea in the bronze-medal match.

Drawn in Group C alongside Rwanda and Libya, the Moroccan side enjoyed a perfect start to the tournament. They opened their campaign with a 33–26 win over Rwanda before defeating Libya 32–25 to finish top of their group.

In the quarter-finals, Morocco continued its strong run with a 30–27 victory over hosts Côte d’Ivoire. The result secured a place in the semi-finals and, with it, qualification for the 2027 IHF Men’s U19 World Championship.

Following the semi-final against Egypt, Morocco faced Guinea in the third-place match. In a closely contested encounter, the national side prevailed 18–17 to secure a place on the continental podium.

The result marks Morocco’s third bronze medal in the history of the competition, following previous third-place finishes in 2004 in Casablanca and 2022 in Kigali.

Morocco therefore concludes its campaign in Abidjan with an African bronze medal and qualification for the 2027 IHF Men’s U19 World Championship.
