Taekwondo: Morocco crowned World Team Champion

Our national women's taekwondo team achieved a historic milestone by winning the 2026 World Taekwondo World Cup Team Championships title, held in Chuncheon, Republic of Korea.

Comprising KHOULAL Merieme, ENNAMS Fatima-zahra, LAARAJ Nada, and DEHHAOUI Amina, the Moroccan team overcame some of the world's strongest nations to claim the gold medal, securing Morocco's first-ever title in the history of this competition.

Competing in an eight-team tournament, Morocco produced an outstanding campaign by defeating Kazakhstan in the quarter-finals, Thailand in the semi-finals, and Russia in the final to be crowned world champions.

Russia finished the competition with the silver medal, while Iran claimed bronze after defeating Thailand in the third-place match. China and India completed the line-up of the eight teams competing in the women's event.

This gold medal marks Morocco's first-ever world title at the World Taekwondo World Cup Team Championshipsand reflects the continued progress of Moroccan taekwondo on the international stage.

The 2026 World Taekwondo World Cup Team Championships, taking place from 14 to 16 July at the Song-Am Sports Town Air Dome in Chuncheon, will conclude with the mixed team event.
