Athletics: Morocco wins 24 medals at the 2026 Arab U18 Championships
Our national athletics team concluded the Arab U18 Championships, held in Egypt from 5 to 9 September 2026, with a total of 24 medals ( 10 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze), finishing second in the overall medal table behind Egypt.
Maria SAADI claimed two titles, winning the long jump with a leap of 6.56m to set a senior national record, as well as the 100m in 11.53, setting a national record at both U18 and U20 level. Salma EL MAATAOUI took gold in the 2000m steeplechase in 6:59.24, Hada SABRI won the 800m in 2:16.68, and Islam AMTITICH claimed the 3000m title in 10:07.36.
Further gold medals came from Ibtissam LAROUSSI in the 400m hurdles in 1:02.13, Aya NOUIHRI in the 1500m in 4:49.82, Mohamed RAOUI in the 1500m in 4:15.70, and Youssef ABDOUSSI in the 2000m steeplechase in 5:53.087. Our women’s national team also secured gold in the relay.
The seven silver medals were won by Noumidia TABTI in the 2000m steeplechase (7:06.46), Halima BERBOUCHI in the 400m (57.66), Khadija EL MOUSTAKIM in the 800m (2:16.88), Leïla BENKHENTI in the 3000m (10:10.64), Oumaïma ATIOUI in the high jump (1.60m), Fouad MOUJAHID in the 3000m (9:24.38), and Wissam EL BALADI in the 1500m (4:53.02).
Our national team also secured seven bronze medals. The reported results include medals for Tarik AKRICH in the 800m (1:54.51), Salma BENNOUR in the 100m hurdles (14.57), Leïla EL KHADIR in the 400m (57.80), Saad LIDI in the shot put (16.88m), and Khalil YAHYA in the 400m hurdles (53.75), as well as a bronze medal for our men’s national team in the relay.
At the end of the championships, our national team finished second in the overall medal table with 24 medals : 10 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze.
