Taranto 2026: Moroccan Equestrian Sports Claim Two Bronze Medals and Return to the Team Podium After 43 Years
Our national show jumping team concluded its campaign at the 20th Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 with two bronze medals, secured in the team and individual events.
In the team competition, Morocco was represented by Ali AL AHRACH with Chac On JT Z, Abdeslam BENNANI SMIRES with Mister d’Eclipse, El Ghali BOUKAA with Ike 1348, and Abdelkebir OUADDAR with Festival d’Argouges.
After two rounds, our national team stood on four penalty points, level with Spain. A jump-off was therefore required to decide second and third place. Morocco ultimately claimed the bronze medal, behind gold medallists France and silver medallists Spain.
The result marked Morocco’s return to the Mediterranean Games team podium in show jumping, 43 years after its previous medal in the event.
The competition continued with the individual final on September 1. Riding Ike 1348, El Ghali BOUKAA advanced to the medal jump-off alongside Spain’s Carlos BOSCH CEBRIAN and Türkiye’s Hasan SENTURK.
Entering the jump-off on zero penalties, the Moroccan pair finished third to secure the bronze medal. Carlos BOSCH CEBRIAN, riding Jolie van der Berghoeve Kar, claimed gold, while Hasan SENTURK, riding Nespresso van ’t Laekhof, took silver.
With bronze medals in both the team and individual events, Moroccan show jumping concluded its Taranto 2026 campaign with two Mediterranean podium finishes.
