Taranto 2026: Hamza HOSSAINI Strikes Gold for Moroccan Gymnastics

Morocco’s national artistic gymnastics team concluded its participation at the 20th Mediterranean Games Taranto 2026 with a gold medal, won by Hamza HOSSAINI in the men’s vault.

The Moroccan gymnast impressed from the qualification round, securing places in two finals. He finished 12th in the all-around with a total score of 75.300 points, while delivering a particularly strong performance on vault. His score of 13.450 earned him second place in qualification and a spot in the apparatus final.

Hamza HOSSAINI also produced a solid performance on the parallel bars, scoring 13.000 points to finish 13th and rank as the third reserve for the final.

It was in the vault final that HOSSAINI turned his strong qualification performance into gold. The Moroccan recorded an average score of 14.025 points from his two vaults, which earned scores of 14.100 and 13.950, to claim the gold medal and the Mediterranean title.

He finished ahead of Italy’s Tommaso BRUGNAMI, who took silver with 13.900 points, and Türkiye’s Alperen EVCI, who claimed bronze with 13.850. HOSSAINI secured the title by a margin of 0.125 points over his closest challenger.

The victory adds another major achievement to an already successful 2026 season. Last April in Yaoundé, HOSSAINI won two medals at the African Artistic Gymnastics Championships, claiming gold on vault and bronze on parallel bars.

Within the space of a few months, the Moroccan gymnast has therefore completed an impressive double on vault, adding the Mediterranean title to his African crown.

With HOSSAINI’s gold medal, Moroccan artistic gymnastics concludes its Taranto 2026 campaign with a Mediterranean title, following a competition in which he reached both the all-around and vault finals.
