CASABLANCA AFRICAN JUDO OPEN : Morocco Wins 23 Medals
From 23 to 25 January 2026, the covered hall of the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca hosted the 2026 edition of the African Judo Open, organized under the auspices of the African Judo Union. Over three days, Morocco’s economic capital staged international competitions bringing together senior, cadet and junior categories.
The event brought together more than 700 athletes, representing 42 countries in the African Open Seniors, 26 countries in the African Cadet Cup and 30 countries in the African Junior Cup, reflecting the scale of participation recorded during this edition.
In terms of results, the Moroccan delegation achieved an overall total of 23 medals across all categories, including five gold medals. The gold medals were won by Youssef Boukaia in the cadet category (-55 kg), Fatima Ezzahra Nidaouiin the cadet (-48 kg) and junior (-48 kg) categories, Amina Alaoui Cherifi in the junior category (-52 kg), and Hassan Doukkali in the senior category (-73 kg).
Through this participation, Morocco confirms the consistency of its presence on the podiums of African competitions, with results spread across all categories entered.
