Moroccan National Olympic Committee: Participation in the Extraordinary Session of the CIJM Executive Committee

The Moroccan National Olympic Committee took part in the extraordinary session of the Executive Committee of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games, held on Friday, 16 January 2026, in Athens, and was represented by its Secretary General, Mr. Abdellatif IDMAHAMMA.

This session was held in a context marked by the tribute paid to Mr. Davide TIZZANO, former President of the CIJM, who passed away on 29 December 2025. The proceedings were conducted in an atmosphere of respect and recognition for his commitment and contribution to the development of the Mediterranean Games.

Following this tribute, the Executive Committee adopted several important decisions, including the designation of Mr. Davide TIZZANO as Honorary President of the CIJM, the posthumous award of the highest distinction of the CIJM, as well as the organization of a commemorative ceremony during the next General Assembly. At the institutional level, the Executive Committee also approved the designation of Mr. Mehrez BOUSSAYENE to assume the presidency of the CIJM until the election of a new President.

The discussions also focused on the state of progress of the preparations for the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games. The Executive Committee decided to strengthen coordination with the Organizing Committee in order to support the effective preparation of this major sporting event.
