Our women's national team began its 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON Morocco 2026) campaign with a convincing 4-0 victory over Kenya on Sunday, 26 July, at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat, in their opening Group A match.

Backed by the home crowd, the Atlas Lionesses displayed impressive attacking efficiency to secure the win through goals from Sakina OUZRAOUI (19'), Maryame ATIQ (28') and Ibtissam JRAÏDI, who netted a brace (32', 47'). The result sees Morocco score its first four goals of the tournament while keeping a clean sheet.

At the end of the opening round of matches, Morocco sits top of Group A with 3 points and a +4 goal difference, ahead of Algeria, who also opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Senegal. Senegal and Kenya are level on 0 points. This early standing puts Morocco in a strong position heading into the remainder of the group stage.

Hosted by Morocco from 26 July to 16 August 2026, the 14th edition of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations features 16 national teams for the first time, reflecting the continued growth of women's football across the African continent and the increasing significance of the competition.

Our women's national team will play its second Group A match against Algeria on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at 9:00 p.m. (Morocco time) at Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat. The match will pit the two opening-day winners against each other and could prove decisive in the race for top spot in Group A and qualification for the quarter-finals.
