CAF Awards 2025: The Triumph of Moroccan Football

The 2025 CAF Awards ceremony was held on November 19 in Rabat, where Morocco stood out by winning six prestigious honors.

 

Achraf HAKIMI was named Player of the Year, rewarded for an outstanding season with Paris Saint-Germain and for his decisive role in Morocco’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup. On the women’s side, Ghizlane CHEBBAK claimed the African Women’s Player of the Year title, after finishing as the top scorer of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and recently joining Al Hilal.

 

Goalkeeper Yassine BOUNOU, also playing for Al Hilal, was crowned African Goalkeeper of the Year thanks to his remarkable performances both at club level and in international competitions. Among the rising stars, Othmane MAAMMA, an attacking midfielder for Watford FC, was named Young Player of the Year, while Doha EL MADANI from AS FAR received the Women’s Young Player of the Year award for her achievements with her club and the national team. Finally, Morocco’s U-20 national team was honored as the National Team of the Year, celebrating an impressive run.

 

On a continental level, other standout talents were also recognized: BUBISTA (Cape Verde) was named Coach of the Year, and Chiamaka NNADOZIE (Nigeria) retained her title as African Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year.

 

These distinctions highlight the rising strength of Moroccan football, driven by promising young talents and established players alike, paving the way for a bright future on both the continental and global stage.
