Surf: Moroccan double victory at the Royal St Andrews Hotel Rip Curl Cup in South Africa
Morocco stood out on the international surfing scene with a double victory by Lilia TEBBAI and Teva BOUCHGUA at the Royal St Andrews Hotel Rip Curl Cup, held in South Africa as part of the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series.
Competing in this African circuit event, both Moroccan surfers secured wins in their respective categories against an international field.
In the women’s QS 2000 event, Lilia TEBBAI claimed first place in the final against South Africa’s Zoe STEYN, earning 2,000 points in the QS rankings.
In the men’s competition, Teva BOUCHGUA won the QS 4000 event, the highest category of the competition, defeating South Africa’s Connor SLIJPEN in the final. This victory earned him 4,000 points.
Rated QS 4000 for men and QS 2000 for women, this event served as the final stop of the WSL African Qualifying Series, with qualification spots for the Challenger Series awarded to the top-ranked surfers of the season.
